I've spent some time creating new music. I'm excited about "URSA.3", which is the second track I've done looping my own drumming and the first time I've been happy with the way it sounds. I also didn't use any samples, which I think is a first. If you listen to it I recommend using nice headphones! "Kalimba" is another interesting track, recording my kalimba through my SP-404 and layering it.
Some thing I put together for the relaunch of a friend's blog, sofakingdiligent.com. Added some color for fun. On the actual site, it's black and white. That rhymes.
Today was Record Store Day, a day to celebrate independent record stores across the country. I have a thing for indie music stores and have to visit new ones whenever I travel. (Records in Italy are overpriced) DC has a decent amount, but two of the best recently closed (DJ Hut and CD Warehouse). But I managed to run by a few and get some free stuff along the way. Record shops are usually good for photos as well. In this case, Som Records (top) was especially photogenic. Below are older shots from two of my favorite shops, Plan 9 in Richmond, VA and Safe As Milk Records in Roanoke, VA which has been closed for several years now.
I've made a second website for myself, meant more specifically for my music. It's accompanied by another blog that will include posts about music, art, culture and whatever else inspires me.
The site looks a little off in Internet Explorer, but it should look fine in other browsers. Not much new music up yet, but hopefully I can sit down and concentrate on making some new stuff soon... Check it out! Tell me what you think! And don't forget The Cover Up and Cheesewich.
